Here are 10 reasons why:
1) Sky-high engagement & conversion
π₯ If you read one reason, read this one:
According to Hootsuite,
"As of July 2023, the average engagement rate of an organic Facebook post ranges from 2.58% down to just 1.52%."
That should cut deep as an organization that publishes organic content almost exclusively (organic = not paid).
πΊπΈ You want to know the national average engagement rate for an email? 21%.
π© You want to know my engagement rate for this newsletter? 71%.
Would you rather have 2/100 people interact with your content or 71/100?

2) You own your list & no algorithm can change that
If MailChimp suddenly makes a change you don't like, you can export your list and move to a different provider. You'll never lose access to your people.
β
3) Email was not engineered for shallow, addictive distraction - it can't be interrupted by advertisements or flashy interfaces that pull audience members away from your content.
β
4) Longer content lifespan
If you post on social media at the end of the workday, it will be buried by newer content by later that night. Oof.
Most people check their email daily and some crazy people even try for inbox (0).
β
5) Email encourages a more personal connection
In many ways, email is more similar to π¬ letter writing than digital marketing. What relationships could you foster with email that you couldn't on socials? With members? Parents? Prospects?
β
6) You control the experience you want your readers to have - you can create a curated on-brand experience with template designs.
β
7) You can segment your list and target specific groups for free!
The only way to target specific demographics on social media is to run paid ads. If you're on top of tagging your subscribers, you are always able to send a targeted message to the group that needs it most.
β
8) Email readers are in the right headspace to internalize information & get things on a calendar - I can't say the same about my own brain when I'm mindlessly scrolling on Insta.
β
9) Email enables you to deliver high quality value directly in the form of PDFs & links - see my newsletter about Lead Magnets.
β
10) Your readers invited you inside the walls of their π° email castle π°
I have a junk email that I use for Old Navy rewards. I have a personal email that I gave to my church. I genuinely care about receiving communications from them & intend on reading them.
What are your thoughts? How are you utilizing the strengths of email? I'd love to hear.

A few people have mentioned this to me, so I simply had to investigate... Have you gotten ads for Church Candy? Church Candy was started by a man who built an ad agency in a different field. He pivoted and decided to use his skills within the church. He promises that he can get new visitors into your church using online ads. How does he do this? His team will run ads for you on Facebook & Instagram with the primary goal of gathering leads. What's a lead? A lead is someone who sees your ad and...
I've been designing a lot of postcards lately. I let people know about a $1.5k matching grant a few weeks ago through Outreach.com. I also work with a lot of churches that are having their launch services soon. Because of this, I've been working on lots of postcard designs and here is the general idea behind the template I use (that makes web traffic do this): 1) Ditch the paragraph and write for the eye. Take the paragraph of descriptive information that you'd like to put on your postcard...
